In this report I am going to be telling you about the history, geography, activities, sites to see and economics of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Puerto Vallarta is an interesting place. It is ranked as the second most visited city in Mexico. Now I will tell you more about my city.
In the history of Puerto Vallarta people lived in the area in prehistoric times. Spanish missionaries and conquistadors came to Mexico in the 1500s. There were people living in the area but there wasn’t a village until 1859. The Union en Caule mining company came in 1859. The village grew because of mining in the nearby hills. Puerto Vallarta got its name from a state governor named Ignacio Vallarta.. Later the city became a place tourists like to visit. The famous movie Night of the Iquana was filmed in Puerto Vallarta.
The average high temperature in Puerto Vallarta is 86 degrees Fahrenheit and the average low temperature is 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Some of the animals that live in Puerto Vallarta are the Golden Cheeked Woodpecker, the Inca Dove and the Squirrel Cuckoo.
In the city of Puerto Vallarta there are many different sites and activities. People love the city because it is on the coast of the Pacific Ocean and it is warm most of the year. Some of the activities here are fishing, tennis, golf, and horseback riding. You can also visit Banders Bay Beach. You can take a trip by boat and swim with a dolphin. Some beaches you have to take a boat to get to. At the city beach there is a historic boardwalk called the Malecon. There are restaurants and shops and night clubs along the Malcon and people like to walk there. Also there is a historic church called The Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe. The cathedral has a big bell in a tower and a crown on top. One more cool activity is Our Lady of Guadalupe Festival which honors Mexico’s patron saint each December.
The economics of the city are very important, because it brings money into the area. People coming to visit, known as tourism, is a major industry in Puerto Vallarta. The city has a 15% tax on purchases. The tourists spend money that helps run the city. If tourists stopped coming the people working would lose their jobs. They wouldn’t get money to feed their families and they might have to leave the area.
Writing this report has helped me learn that Puerto Vallarta is different than Queensbuy. For one thing, the weather is much warmer in Puerto Vallarta. I would like to visit Puerto Vallarta because I love the beach and it looks beautiful. Also I learned Puerto Vallarta is an old city. That was my report on Puerto Vallarta. I hope you liked it!
